These two are super special to me- Jacob and Melissa are both my former students. Their love story began 8 years ago, as friends in high school. When Melissa’s mom called me to photograph the proposal, I was so excited and honored to be a part of this! Their proposal was was a first for me & I loved every minute of it!
Jacob planned on getting Melissa to the park that evening by taking her fishing, this was something he was teaching her. Her mom, Jacob and I had exchanged pictures as to where we thought he was going to propose…. but as luck would have it, we were in the wrong spot!!! The family was up on a hill looking down and I was in the water on a boat. As they walked by the area we thought this was going to happen, their family scattered through the woods and we had to leave someone in a raft holding on to the boats anchor!
Once they stopped, Jacob had Melissa try to cast the fishing pole, and on her first try, she got it stuck in the tree above. Jacob could not have planned it better, as he “tried to help” she turned around to see him on one knee, asking her to marry him. After her initial shock and, “Shut-up”, of course she said yes. As I joined them on shore, surrounded by both of their families and their best friends, we snuck away for 10minutes to grab some pictures of the sweet, newly engaged couple.
I could not be happier for them and I can’t wait to be there for the rest of their journey! Stay tuned, a 2017 wedding will be planned! <3 Here are a few highlights from their big day!
