Ellie and Brendan were married at the church they met at. I have known Ellie and her family for many, many years. Her mother worked in the school I work in, I taught her middle son (who also famously fractured his ankle in my class), and I was lucky enough to coach and teach Ellie all four years of her high school career.
The details surrounding their day were simple. There were so many handmade projects, including the “welcome” door that had name tags on it and there’s a funny story that goes with that! Ellie’s mom always wanted a beautiful victorian door, Ellie wanted a door for her seating chart. Come to find out, this beautiful antique door was in the basement of the house Ellie grew up in! Ellie’s DIY Pinterest skills are amazing, she made the bouquets from a video she found and all out of fake florals, her father is quite the woodworker and made all of the boxes and centerpieces for their day.
The Pastor who married Ellie and Brendan knows them both very well. Ellie and Brendan work with the youth group at their church. It was through their youth group and a close friend of Brendan’s that introduced them. It is hard to not believe that fate and love at first sight had something to do with their relationship and trusting in God to lead them to one another. Pretty much from the day they met, they just knew. Ellie’s oldest neice and nephew, took off down the isle to the alter when they realized just what they were doing in the wedding. Brendan had a hard time holding back his tears as he laid eyes on Ellie and her father at the other end of the church. The service was perfect and simple and very Brendan and Ellie. After their vows, exchange of rings and their first kiss as husband and wife, these two skipped back down the isle to exit the church. Everyone as witness to their testamate to one another waited for them for one of the most epic bubble exits I have seen yet!
Then we headed to Wickham Park. I have run there as a high school cross country runner, but I have never stopped to take in the beauty at the top of the green monster. Ellie and Brendan were married in the log cabin at top the mountain. It overlooks the Hartford skyline. Oh and the sunset that night, could not have been more amazing! There were filters of light coming through the sky to light up Hartford in the background. After formals and cocktail hour, introductions, toasts and cake all happened at once. Ellie’s dad wrapped the cabin in white lights to give off a beautiful ambiance for dancing later that evening. What a perfect celebration of two of the most amazing people I have ever met. Together, I have no doubt, you’ll do amazing things! Cheers to the next one hundred years!
