Mathieu & Lillian- Megeve, France Wedding

Wedding date: June 13th, 2026

Their love story began in Paris. After a few dates together, Lillian returned home to the United States, leaving an ocean between them. For the next two years, they crossed continents to see one another, proving that with enough love and commitment, long distance really can work.

Their wedding took place in the charming alpine village of Megève, France. In France, couples must first have a civil ceremony, which they celebrated the day before with their closest family and friends. I’ll share more about that beautiful day in another post.

Before guests even arrived, there were thoughtful details that reflected who Lillian and Mathieu are. Mathieu, an incredibly talented artist, illustrated the village of Megève on the back of their invitation, giving everyone a glimpse of the beautiful place where they would celebrate.

Their wedding day felt like something straight out of a storybook. Everything was within walking distance. We strolled through the cobblestone streets to the church as Lillian arrived in a horse drawn carriage with her father. Inside, Mathieu had just walked down the aisle with his mother. Their ceremony was led by a local priest in French, with Lillian’s pastor from California joining to perform portions of the ceremony in English, beautifully bringing together both of their worlds.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds made their way through a shower of rose petals before taking a short walk to the reception at Fer à Cheval. Picture a cozy mountain village, a rustic alpine lodge, incredible food, and breathtaking views. Guests enjoyed an unforgettable meal, with heartfelt toasts shared throughout the evening. Family and friends had traveled from all over the world to celebrate these two, making the day even more meaningful. One of my favorite reception details came from Lillian’s grandfather. He hand crafted a metal butterfly for every guest to take home and place in their garden, creating a lasting reminder of this unforgettable day. It was made even more meaningful knowing this has become a family tradition. Two years ago, when Lillian’s older sister Charlotte was married, their grandfather also created beautiful metal butterflies. Those butterflies were painted in vibrant colors and nestled among the plants that lined the dance floor. What a beautiful, personal, family touch to this wedding.

The celebration carried on well into the early morning hours. The dance floor stayed packed all night as the band kept the energy high, and before anyone knew it, the sun was beginning to rise over the French Alps.

What an unforgettable experience this was, and what an incredible honor it was to document every moment. Congratulations to Lillian and Mathieu. Cheers to the next 100 years and here’s to a lifetime of adventures together.
